Why is Microblading aftercare so important?

Why is Microblading aftercare so important?

I’m the worst person ever to follow an aftercare regimen. For some reason I don’t think they are accurate and there will be no consequences if I don’t follow directions 100%. But after I became a permanent makeup artist, I realized that there is a reason for it.

Aftercare instructions for Microblading changes from artist to artist and from city to city. Some of the instructions I provide include, but are not limited to:

Not wetting your brows for about a week to 10 days. This means no sweating, sauna, pools…  This doesn’t mean not to clean it, just don’t let the area get humid for long. When you do clean the area it needs to be gentle and quick.

I provide a healing ointment, but depending on the skin type I will ask to apply it differently.

If your skin is on the oily side, You should not use a lot since your body is naturally creating moisture. Also Miami has a very humid environment so that helps with the moisture for your freshly Microbladed eyebrows.

When the skin is on the dry side (which is the best type of skin for microblading) you will need to use more ointment.

One of the most important ones is DO NOT pick at your brows, especifically don’t peel them. If you do, trust me, you will end up with nothing.

The reason why the aftercare is so important is because Microblading is not an exact science. This is an art and it’s not perfect. The results of your brows depends on 50% the artist technique and 50% the care taken within the first week. Even if the artist did an awesome job and used the best products, you still run the risk of not getting perfect results if you don’t take proper care of your eyebrows.

If you get your brows wet within the first week and don’t pat them dry immediately, you might get a big, thick and crusty scab. This will cause the scab to remove most of the color when it naturally comes off, and you might even end up with a scar. The same will happen if you peel your brows off instead of letting it happen naturally.

The purpose of this article is not to scare you away from getting your eyebrows Microbladed. As a matter of fact, I highly recommend Microblading to almost everyone I know. All you have to remember is that a week of care will pay off at the end when you wake up and your eyebrows are flawless.
